Our in-house PCM asbestos laboratory

Air monitoring and clearance samples analyzed by our own analysts, so results come back in hours instead of days.

TSEC holds a Texas DSHS Asbestos Laboratory license for phase-contrast microscopy (PCM), so air samples collected during abatement and at final clearance are analyzed by our own analysts instead of being couriered to a third-party lab and queued behind someone else's work.

For a contractor that is the difference between releasing a work area the same day and losing a shift waiting on results. When a project calls for PLM bulk analysis or TEM clearance, we coordinate that with accredited partner laboratories and manage the chain of custody ourselves.

What the laboratory does

  • Phase-contrast microscopy (NIOSH 7400) for abatement air monitoring and final clearance
  • Same-day and after-hours turnaround on clearance samples when a schedule demands it
  • Chain of custody, laboratory data, and analyst records included as report appendices
  • PLM bulk analysis and TEM clearance coordinated with accredited partner laboratories

Our laboratory participates in proficiency testing programs sponsored by unbiased, third-party industry organizations. That participation helps ensure we meet or exceed current industry quality and performance standards for the analysis of asbestos.

What this means for your schedule

Air monitoring and clearance are only useful if the results arrive while the containment is still up and the crew is still on site. That is the whole reason we run the laboratory ourselves: the samples our technician collects at 4 p.m. do not go into a courier bag and a queue — they go to our own bench. When a project needs PLM bulk analysis or TEM clearance, we coordinate it with accredited partner laboratories and manage the chain of custody, so you still have one company answering for the data.
